| I'd like to buy Leica 一機一鏡 2nd hand. In a 'my beloved 一機一鏡' thread, I saw various combo as (text A below). My desired 一機一鏡 would be: ==> M6 + 35mm (likely M6 Classic and 35/2.0) Too new to Leica, in order not to buy the wrong equipment. I'd appreciate dada can enlight: 1) M6 Classic or M6 TTL? If Leica TTL flash is expensive, M6 TTL may not be useful to me?! Can non-Leica (cheaper) flash work with this TTL? 2) I prefer 35mm. 50mm can also be considered. For 35mm, there are M-35mm 八片, M-35mm 六片 早期, M-35mm 六片 後期, M-35mm 七片; pre-ASPH or ASPH, Summicron/Summacron/Lux?... I want 一鏡 that is capable of giving the 'tuck sharp' Leica image that this brand is famous for. But the question is ... which 35/2 can offer this quality? Can cheaper 35/3.5 lens offer the same? (Current new model 35/2 ASPH #11879 is fairly expensive. Is this among the top of available 35/2 lenses?) thanks for your help so that I can buy Leica 一機一鏡 to treasure. (friendly comparison and no flame please).

| I suggest M6 classic + 35 Summicron 7-elements. I still don't think flash is very useful in rangefinder photography. |

| I still treasure my M6 classic (silver chrome ) and 35mm 7 elements (silver chrome colour)
that was brought bramd new in 1993. I think this is one of the best Leica camera and lens combination. |

| M6 Classic and 35mm Summicron ASPH. Secondhand price about HK$10,000 and HK12,000 respectively. |

| -Thanks to Jesse on asserting "M6+任何35/2 除了非球面"
-Thanks to edho on "M6 classic + 35 Summicron 7-elements". Classic is ok. -Thanks to hfk1 on "M6 classic (silver chrome ) and 35mm 7 elements (silver chrome colour)". Yes, I will look for chrome M6, color of lens is optional for me. -Thanks to feyeping on "M6 Classic and 35mm Summicron ASPH". I checked and found Leica 11879 is 35mm f/2.0 Summicron M Aspherial Manual Focus Lens (7 elements in 5 groups). This is a bit expensive . For tuck sharp image, is more expensive 11879 required? or '非球面', I believe, is more costly than non-ASPH or pre-ASPH. Can lesser/older lens do the trick of 'tuck sharp'? (in other words, is cheaper 35/2 worth a try? If yes, pls name a few with probable 2nd-hand price.) thanks dada -Frankie |

| I think if we are talking about a f2 lens, Summicron ASPH produces the sharpest image. Besides, it has very good "wide-open" performance. But, some C Hings prefer the older versions which have better bokeh. If the price of Summicron ASPH is a bit high, a 35mm f2.5 Summarit is also a good choice. Read Edwin Putts's review. |

| 35/2.5 Summarit is quite sharp 附帶文件: |

| thanks feyeping.
If Summicron ASPH is absolutely required to deliver 'tuck sharp', I will not have a choose but to spend more on this lens. (at least it's good to hear that this more expensive lens is a very capable choice.) If other Older lenses are equally competitive, then I can consider these less expensive options, I mean other 35/2, plus 35/2.5 or 35/3.5. (if 35/3.5 is a lot lesser, than I won't consider them. no flame intended )
wish to hear more on 35mm lens selection. -Frankie. |

| I like the 35mm Summarit. It is sharper then the 7 elements but not harsh like the asph. |

| Jesse's photo using "35/2.5 Summarit" is indeed quite sharp. Does the current 35/2 #11879 perform (i) just similar, or (ii) better?

| >35mm Summarit. It is sharper then the 7 elements but not harsh like the asph.
it means... sharper ... ASPH > 35mm Summarit > 7 elements...less sharp I've heard single-Asph and double-Asph, don't know if this applies to 35/2. Still trying to find a Lens review -- too many different versions of Leica 35mm to compare. bewildered. -Frankie |

I personally don't like the Summicron asph. It is a good lens but not for me. I know many people love this lens. It is just personal taste. |

| If "tack sharp" is the one and only criteria, summicron-m 35/2.0 ASPH is the way to go. But Leica lenses is not known for "sharp" only.
If absolute sharpness is needed, most Japanese equivalents will do the job. My 2 cents. |

| from recommended websites, I found both cron and Summarit suit my taste. Sharpness was comparable. Summarit's sharpness is good enough, I may not need Summicron ASPH after all. (still like to get one 90%new at ~$10,000)
I'm new to this forum and quickly learnt that it is contributed by gentlemen - no hardsell, no flame. Very civilized, I must say. Nevertheless, I'd appreciate If dada can advise...if any/all of the below are good partner for my future M6 Classic?? Summicron-M ASPH 35/2 for ~$11000-12000 Summilux-M non-ASPH 35 for `$8000 Summicron M 35/2 (6 ele) for ~$6000 or Summaron 35/3.5 for ~$3200 I guess for 35mm, viewfinder 0.72 is good, not M6 0.85. |

Having used all four lenses I would go for the 6 elements, but again this is just person taste and all four lenses are good. I prefer not to choose an f/3.5 lens as my only 35mm so the Summaron is out. The f/2.8 Summaron is great but over priced at around $7k. The ASPH is not to my taste but again many people love this lens and you might too. The 7 elements is great but prices really shot up but $8k is a good price. I would not pay the usual $12k asking price. The 6 elements is better built than the 7 element, and for less money and just as good photographically. |

| thanks adidas dada.
will try to locate a Summicron-M ASPH 35/2 for $10-11K or to find good-condition/price 35/2 7-ele or 6-ele.
not to touch /2.8 or /3.5 for now. thanks again. |

| What about the 40mm Summicron? A very affordable lens (2k-3k), with quality comparable to the 6 elements, more compact and readily available. I have 2, one for my CL and the other was fitted to bring up the 35mm frameline on my other M.
It is also a good compromise if you are unsure what focal length you like. Just my 2 cents. |

I like the 35mm Summarit. It is sharper then the 7 elements but not harsh like the asph. Are the new Summarit 35, 50, 75 & 90 as good as Erwin Put puts it ?? Usable at reasonable price ?? Would See Hing with many 35 and 50 add these 2 new items to their inventory/collection ?? (assuming money is never a problem) |

| Agree Summicron-C 40mm is a good lens at reasonable price. I have one from my father.
Shogun at TST have a lot of used Summicron-C 40mm on display. Although the list price is $3500 each, their price is negotiable. |
